Hello,
My name is S. Michael Leier but everyone calls me Mike. I came across your board through the fanfilm.net website. It looks like you have a great project going here that (judging by the trailer) could rival some big budget films out there.
Anyway, to stay on topic I noticed that your trailer didn't have any standard movie trailer narration. That's where I can donate some help. I have years of experience doing voice work. A strong narrative can give a real punch to trailer and I always wished I could have done it for the original movie, but that upstart Don LaFontaine got it. Anyway, so much for my personal pain...I realize that you're working long hours to bring the production to reality, but never under-estimate the power of a good teaser or trailer.
What I could do is record a short test vocal for your consideration and then we can go from there.
BTW I was just kdding about Don...he is my idol and I think he is fantasic!

Are you Mr Big Voice?
Although I think voiceovers are good I think this trailer worked good without it. Not saying there isn't a benefit to a good voice over. _________________ "I find that if I sit down...the solution presents itself" |

Nope I am not "Mr. Big Voice" . They say that when you die you won't hear God's voice...you'll hear God trying to imitate Don Lafontaine (he he)
I do however have a respectable voice of my own. I agree that the trailer as produced is first rate, though would be considered long by industry standards, which is fine. I just thought that if you ever wish to do a theater styled trailer of 60-90 minutes I would like to offer my voice. |

Mike
Welcome to the forum.
Thanks for such a kind offer of help - PLEASE, do send us a sample of your voice for consideration. Voice over for the actual trailer is very much something we have considered.
Hope you enjoy the forums :)

Hi Ken,
Hey, thank you for the kind welcome. I sent you something I did earlier today for someone else, but I will also work up an indiana jones type audio and get that to you as well.

Hi Again,
If anyone wants more examples I just uploaded a new file I call "The Over Worked Producer" to supload.com. It started out as an idea for a demo reel and kind of blossomed. I do all the vocals as well as the guitar licks at the beginning and end.

Impressive, really! You should do it for profession. Very deep voice... _________________ "Genius of the Restoration, aid our resuscitation!" |

It works really well for Star Trek one. I love the guy who can do the really raspy stuff like in the Stargate and Jurassic Park trailers. _________________ "I find that if I sit down...the solution presents itself" |

Thanks Pofessor and Smith,
I hope to start doing VO professionally. Right now I am in the process of completely redoing my equipment and making a sound proof booth. The one problem I have with my current set up is line noise. I hope to eliminate that with the new studio. Once everything is set up and I have a few projects under my belt I hope to put together a good demo for agents.

hey Mike, would you be interested in lending your vocal talents to a little trailer I wanted to make? it's actually a fan made trailer for Stargate Atlantis that I wanted to make, but was more for the fun of it. I can understand if you wouldn't want to if you're looking to go professional. _________________ "I find that if I sit down...the solution presents itself" |

Sure I would love to...Just send the script and I will record it and get it back to you. All I ask is a copy of the finished project for my files and demo reel.
Please put your title on the script along with your name and email address. Let me know how you want it voiced (I.e. buzz saw, soft, hard, horror, etc.). I will record it at 44100 Hz and place it in a .wav file unless you would rather it be a mp3 file. You will geta dry vocal with no effects so that you an edit it into your project eeping everything normalized.
Please be aware that I am updating my studio, however, I still have my original setup so I can keep working. The only problem is some low level line noise which usually isn't noticable once edited. This problem should be solved with my new system.

mike
